Lead the Change is a 3.4 Million programme that will support young people to build stronger communities. Grants made through this programme will:
- Create safe physical spaces for young people to meet and connect
- Build their leadership, confidence and, community-organising skills
- Help them challenge misinformation and harmful narratives
- Support community-led projects shaped directly by young people
Lead the Change will go beyond traditional grant making. Young people supported through the programme will have the opportunity to come together, share what they’re learning, and be part of a national community of practice.
Since launching the Foundation’s new strategy in 2025, we’ve focused on backing ambitious ideas led by organisations that support and guide disadvantaged young people. Through Lead the Change, we’re proud to support inspiring young changemakers across the UK.
James Jason, Chair of the Board of Trustees: We are pleased to act boldly to support big societal issues affecting young people. Collaborations like this make ambitious, long-term work possible. I am looking forward to learning from the work and from the young people involved.
Denise Ramsey, Executive Director: I am proud to see this partnership come to life. Young people have the insight, courage, and leadership to respond to the division they see in their communities. Investing in their leadership helps ensure programmes are rooted in lived experience and are truly responsive to the communities they serve. Thank you to the partners, supporters, team, and JLF Trustees for committing to this meaningful, needed work.
